What the Astronaut Ice Cream is all about...
|
|
Sadly, imitating Michael Jackson's Moonwalk, watching reruns of the Jetsons, or rolling out the astro turf is the closest most of us will get to living out our astronaut fantasies.
But now you can take your taste buds on a space odyssey with Astronaut Ice Cream – which comes minus the ice but with the approval of the world's leading authority on space exploration, NASA.
In fact, ever since the Apollo missions through to the more recent development of the international space station, NASA's astronauts have snacked on this delicious freeze-dried ice cream that'll even make Mr.Whippy wanna grab a slice.
That's right - this official NASA ice cream is light enough to throw into your backpack (or a pocket in your space suit) and only contains a mere 8 grams of fat per serve!
Need we say more than to simply take a bite and marvel as the dry and crunchy slice melts in your mouth, taking on the creamy texture and rich flavor of either Neopolitan ice cream (chocolate, strawberry and vanilla) or an Ice Cream Sandwich (vanilla ice cream within two chocolate wafers).
And there's a reason this ice-cream is so popular with NASA's astronauts – it tastes delicious, it's mess-free, long-lasting, won't hurt sensitive teeth and it won't drip all over the place!
Better still, it's great for camping, hiking or picnics at the park so even if you can't hitch a ride on a space shuttle or plant a flag on the moon, you'll still be able to send your sweet tooth into orbit.

Some frequently asked questions:
Is it real ice cream? Yes and each official Astronaut Ice Cream pack can be stored for many years without refrigeration as long as you keep them in an airtight, sealed container.
How much comes in a package? Each pack contains a standard serving size of ice cream measuring approximately 2.5 x 3.1 x 0.8 inches (Neopolitan) and 4.3 x 1.6 x 0.8 inches (sandwich).
What does it taste like? Because it's been freeze-dried (all the moisture has been sucked out of it), it is dry, crunchy and almost has the same texture as the inside of a Malteser. However, once you place it in your mouth and it starts to dissolve, the ice cream flavor really comes out.
Is it legit? Yes, Astronaut Ice Cream is kosher and the package bears the official Astronaut Foods symbol.
