The freshwater Amazon River Dolphin, otherwise known as a 'boto', lives in the rivers and lakes of South America. This endangered species looks very different to marine dolphins as they turn pink as they grow older. They also feature long snouts, bulging foreheads and rounded bodies.
Amazon River Dolphins are naturally strong swimmers and can snake their way through dense shrubs and trees to catch prey. Their diet is varied and mostly consists of fish, but they may also eat crabs, shellfish and turtles.
